Alex Test

The Alex Test is a brand-new molecular allergy test that analyses the immune response and adverse reactions of a subject to 295 allergens: 117 extracts and 178 molecular allergens. The latter include risk markers of the storage protein family and other new markers.

More than 50 unique molecular allergens (including total IgE).

The main features of this latest-generation in vitro test are the increased specificity, accuracy and simultaneous measurement of numerous allergens to provide a complete picture of the patient’s allergological condition. To respond to diagnostic needs, microarray technology is used to measure total IgE (tIgE) and specific IgE (sIgE), targeting almost 300 allergenic extracts. The test uses large panels of both extracted and molecular allergens, thus providing a complete picture of the sensitisation of each patient and making it easier to identify the right therapy.

Alex Test, measured allergy diagnosis

The Alex Test is the most complete test on the market capable of supporting the diagnosis of allergic diseases in association with other diagnostic findings such as medical history, medical records or physical examination.

The examination identifies allergic and sensitising sources of numerous allergens, such as: pollen, mites, microorganisms and spores, foods of plant origin, foods of animal origin, fish, crustaceans and molluscs, insect venom, latex, parasites, and allergens of animal origin. In the presence of an allergic reaction, in fact, the immune system is activated causing symptoms such as itchy eyes, rhinorrhoea, rashes, digestive problems and – in the most serious cases – anaphylactic shock.

Accurate and reliable test results help to correctly diagnose and pursue early and targeted treatment interventions.

When is the Alex Test recommended?

A simple and quick blood test is recommended in the presence of rhinitis, conjunctivitis, asthma, urticaria, or eczema with or without febrile symptoms; in the case of a family history, for allergy screening or after complaints such as vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache and other ailments caused by food intake.
