Urine culture

Clinical indications

Urine culture is a culture test that allows you to identify the microorganisms present in the urine. It is usually requested in the case of a suspected urinary tract infection, in particular in the case of cystitis.

A urine culture is often requested in conjunction with an antibiogram, which, by allowing the assessment of antibiotic sensitivity, is important for the selection of the appropriate antibiotic for eradication of the pathogen causing the infection.
