Clinical indications

Human chorionic gonadotropin is commonly known as the “pregnancy hormone” because it allows pregnancy to be ascertained and can be detected in blood or urine approximately one week after conception. Outside of pregnancy, an increase in chorionic gonadotropin can be a sign of certain diseases, such as malignant and benign tumours of the testis and ovary.
