Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland that regulates the proper functioning of the gonads, i.e., the reproductive organs, in both men and women. Testing of FSH levels is often carried out to assess the presence of infertility problems, menstrual cycle disorders or menopause in women and hypogonadism in the case of men.
